Kansas Drought Update - October 2011

Posted Friday October 21, 2011

The Kansas Water Office reports that due to current and worsening drought conditions, a Drought Update is now being provided weekly until conditions improve.

These updates can be found at http://www.kwo.org/reports_publications/Drought.htm

Drought conditions continue for much of Kansas and expand into additional counties, which has led Governor Sam Brownback to update the Drought Declaration for Kansas counties with Executive Order 11-37. The update includes moving 13 counties from warning status to emergency status and adding six other counties to watch status. A total of 86 counties are under state drought stages, with 30 counties in an emergency stage, 29 in Warning and 27 in Watch.
